Hi all,
This morning, I checked the Massapequa Preserve in Nassau County for the
previously reported *Eurasian Wigeons*, and found there were 2 males. In
addition to the two adult male Eurasian Wigeons, there was a male Eurasian
x American Wigeon *hybrid* with the American Wigeons. This was all
I went down to try for the Moriches Bay Pacific Loon today around sunset.
I saw a loon that looked right for the Pacific Loon from the parking lot
at the end of Moriches Island Road. The bird was distant and the light was
fading, but I had long looks at it in my scope. It had the defined color

A very late BLACKPOLL WARBLER was at Calvert Vaux Park in Brooklyn
today. I saw the bird briefly last Sunday, 12/9, but only got good
confirming views (and a couple of poor photos) today. The bird was
near the east corner of the park in the brushy, wooded strip between
the tip of the basin
I spent a good 6 hours this morning working *Alley Pond Park* and while I
did get some Christmas Count goodies, the *Virginia Warbler* was a no
show. Highlights from Alley included, *Golden-crowned Kinglet* (1), *Eastern
Towhee* (1), *Brown Thrasher* (1), *Hermit Thrush* (1) and the pair of

The Barnacle Goose was on the Parade Grounds at Van Cortlandt Park, near the
Nature Center, where I've seen the bird a number of times at 12:30 this
afternoon.
I hope the birders from Ohio will take in a show too!! That's a long way to
drive for a bird

The previously reported Am. Golden-Plover was feeding in the median near
Field 8 at Heckscher SP around 8:30 AM (now within count week for the
Captree CBC).
The previously reported Black-headed Gull was milling around in the
Setauket Mill Pond at 1:35 PM (but not at 1:30!) this afternoon.
Betsy and I had at least three ROUGH-WINGED SWALLOWS over the Niagara River,
just off of the northeast corner of Goat Island, NY. One bird also flew
over us when we are in the parking lot (the big one at the upstream end of
the island - I.e., away from the falls). They were tending to fly over

Cedars just west of the easternmost parking lot. Not sure where it disappeared
to from there.
