To add to Sy's posting. At the East Marina was a single Red-necked Grebe and at the West Marina there was an additonal Red-necked Grebe hanging out with the aforementioned breeding plumaged grebe. Out past the breakwater in the channel was yet another Red-necked Grebe. Robert Proniewych --

Hi Orhan and all, There was indeed a Black Vulture at Montauk in early March 2000. Patricia Lindsay and I saw it on 5 March and were very excited, given the species' real rarity on Long Island at that time. It would be seven years before we saw another Black Vulture on LI. Shai Mitra Bay

On Monday 3/9 on my way to the ferry from NYC I saw a Black Vulture by the High School in Greenport. As I had locked myself out of my house later for more than an hour after my daily walk and had a lot to do around the house I rushed the report with no details: I saw the vulture west of the school
