breeding plumage were quite a welcome change!
According to a post on facebook the Snowy Owl is still present along Dune
Road.
The Bald Eagle nest I've been frequenting was business as usual
sub-adult on the nest, adult about 1/4 mile out on the marsh. After a
while the bird took off and circled high above the bay. An Osprey also

I have uploaded two pictures of the Crested Caracara to my Flickr page. You can
see the differences between the right and the left (damaged) eye.

where the empty socket was evident. Herb also states that he took a photo of
the bird head on that shows the convex shape of the birds right eye and a
concave area where the left eye should be. He has a photo web
There is an "X" Summer Tanager report in eBird. Is Summer Tanager not
flagged for review in NYC? The date is quite early and I've seen no mention
of it otherwise. Perhaps a filter change is in store?

I haven't been able to get up to Orange County to see the caracara in
person yet, but taking a closer look at some of the better photos
embedded in eBird checklists does indeed show what looks to be an empty
socket where the bird's left eye should be:
