This morning the yellow breasted chat made another brief appearance re-found by
Jeff Seneca. Also heard (but not seen by me) although later photographed by
Jeff was a yellow billed cuckoo. Both birds were on the low road in vicinity of
wine cellars.

In consort with the arrival of early migrants in the other parks throughout
NYC, I checked Bryant Park daily this week. All action appeared to be in the
begonia patches - mostly behind the Southwest Porch and across from the Bryant
Park shed. An abundance of Common Yellow-throated Warblers

Pete Morris and I found a Clay-colored Sparrow along the southeast corner of
the northeast lot at Captree SP, Suffolk, LI.
The bird struck me as not quite typical in a couple of ways and the date is
slightly early for a southbound bird on LI, but it clearly showed a nice
auricular patch edge
To be aware:
For most of New York State, the Canada Goose hunting season will open
Tuesday, September 1st. The season on Long Island, except NYC, will open
September 8th.
