Today, between ~ 2 & 4 PM, I followed up on two recent posts in the
Riverhead area. Arriving at the sod field located at the intersection of
Sound Ave & Osborne Ave, Baiting Hollow, I found 59 Golden Plovers, 77
Killdeers, a ton of E.Starlings and 1 A.Robin. The two tractor /mowers
busily cutting

Ardith Bondi and I (Peter Post) had nine species of shorebirds at Nickerson
Beach this morning. Highlights were a MARBLED GODWIT (great views and photos)
and 3 RED KNOTS.

The Connecticut Warbler continues, just rediscovered after some careful
searching near Little Alley Pond. Others have seen it intermittently throughout
the day. The bird is currently feeding in dense cover right where it was
initially discovered, just down the steps from Vanderbilt on the right

Sandpipers on the West End ponds by other birders, observed three individuals
on the ponds between the Nature Center and WE2 at Jones Beach State Park. The

in the northeastern corner of the large impoundment at the Morgan Rd. DEC
office at Northern Montezuma WMA. Pictures can be viewed in the ebird

training facility on Route 48 (Northville turnpike) at about 8:30 a.m. I
couldn't find any American Golden Plovers in a fairly thorough search.
