Went to look for the Grasshopper Sparrow at Playland Lake in Rye this am and got it right away.  Very easy to find.  It hung out mostly amongst the picnic tables and in between them behind the sign for picnic area #4.  Barely even needed binoculars to look at it.  Great photo ops.  Adorable

I was just wondering if anyone knows how unusual it is to have Great Black-backed Gulls on Lake George.  I had one on a boat docked by Shepard Park this past weekend and just thought it a little unusual for one to be so far away from the coast.  I have never seen one I don't think away from

Went to look for the Upland Sandpiper at Croton Pt. today with no luck.  Stayed on the dump for 2+ hours and only had some Bobolinks, a Harrier, an eagle, and an osprey.  There were lots of butterflies though.  The Western Kingbird was still in the same spot on the tree line across from the

While fishing today at the edge of the Rio Reservoir north of Port Jervis I had an adult Bald Eagle land next to the road about 100 feet to the right of me and just sit there for a couple of minutes until some moron came by in a truck and scared it off.  Soon after an immature dove for a fish

While passing by Edgemont H.S. I noticed a Black Vulture low over the school.  I have seen a pair of them fairly regularly in the vicinity over the last few years so they must be breeding somewhere nearby.  I would love to find the nest.  Very cool. Andrew Andrew v. F. Block Consulting
