I just saw on the Orange Co. list that there's a Summer Tanager in Wappingers
Falls that's evidently been around for awhile at a private feeder. Nice photos
on the eBird report. A shame it's a private residence since I go by the road
it's on periodically.

The Black Vulture pair was seen again today in the same area as previous years
on Central Ave. in Scarsdale near Scarsdale Ford. They must be nesting
somewhere nearby since they are always in the same vicinity. Would love to
find a nest again.

I was driving on Rte. 121 this evening and passed by a large Great Blue Heron
rookery in the large marsh in the northern part of Indian Hill Park. I never
knew it was there and that there was even a rookery in Westchester County.

Drove by the FDR Park in Yorktown Heights today and noticed the resident pair
of eagles is getting ready for the nesting season. Saw them copulating quickly
near the nest and then the male flew off. So cool to have such visible a pair
right along the highway. Gorgeous birds

Went to look for the Grasshopper Sparrow at Playland Lake in Rye this am and
got it right away. Very easy to find. It hung out mostly amongst the picnic
tables and in between them behind the sign for picnic area #4. Barely even
needed binoculars to look at it. Great photo ops. Adorable

King Eider at Sterling Forest S.P. in Tuxedo is still there showing nicely at
the south end of the lake, but better to bring scope if it's not in close.

Rye Brook last winter is back with the Canada Goose flock. One of the Canada

Yonkers on Central Ave. at the Elite Investigations building I had an Eastern
Phoebe and in my front yard I had a female Magnoila Warbler. I'm still getting
hummingbirds at the feeders too.

While fishing today at the edge of the Rio Reservoir north of Port Jervis I had
an adult Bald Eagle land next to the road about 100 feet to the right of me and
just sit there for a couple of minutes until some moron came by in a truck and

Went to look for the King Rail that was reported in Great Vly WMA in
Saugerties, Ulster Co., but after two hours there not a sound from it. Did
have other nice birds though and a Spotted Turtle. If anybody is interested

Went to look for the previously reported Stilt Sandpiper at PBP in the rain
this afternoon. Didn't see it but did have several Greater Yellowlegs,
Semipalmated Plovers, and Least Sandpipers in the Turtle Cove. Also had a
large raccoon in the flats feeding.

While passing by Edgemont H.S. I noticed a Black Vulture low over the school.
I have seen a pair of them fairly regularly in the vicinity over the last few
years so they must be breeding somewhere nearby. I would love to find the
nest. Very cool.
