I was able to get at least one Blue Grosbeak (if anyone is interested). It
was out in the open multiple times and gave great views. too bad it was too
dark to get a good clear picture.

This afternoon at Kissena Park, east of the Velodrome in the wet meadow where
few people go;
I observed two American Tree Sparrows bathing at a puddle. In this field there
is an unbroken trail that leads directly to the bridle path east of the

Joined the Queens County bird club at Point lookout today with leader John
Collins (THANKS JOHN!!!). We had common eider, blank and white-winged scoter,
horned grebe and more usual suspects. We had purple sandpipers, none of them
landed by us, only fly bys. Also most of the

Was birding Kissena Park today and I heard what I thought was a Baltimore
Oriole. I was not able to find the bird as it got quiet when a Sharp shinned
hawk was also drawn to the sound. The location was the same spot where I last
saw an Oriole and photographed it on November 4th.
For anyone still interested, the Tufted Duck is still at the pond by Saint
Johns Church in Cold Spring Harbor off route 25A.
Also at the pond you can still find a Redhead duck.
Others are reporting a Bald Eagle that has frequented the pond for the last two

Dear All,
I went to Kissena Park late this afternoon to see what was in.
In the Velodrome, at the eastern corner was a Wilson's Snipe. I was able to
see it from afar because it had just landed, but then lost it as I got closer.

Also were multiple swamp
No Louisiana Waterthrush this morning but was able to confirm some Nothern
Rough-winged swallows with Tree Swallows hunting over the lake. Also found a
Ruby-crowned kinglet singing and showing off his crown, great photo-op.

without seeing Steve Walter's post I headed to Oakland at 2. Missed out on the
Louisiana, but I did see Rudy Ducks, Grebe, Gadwalls, 1 Palm Warbler and 1
Yellow-rumped Warbler. The Lousisiana would have made an incredible day for me
even better.
I also noticed the Kinglet fallout at Alley,
Kissena Corridor hosted a large number of chipping sparrows and one field
sparrow this evening. Only 1 palm warbler just before sunset. The park was
very busy and the birds kept flying away from passers by just as I was about to
take photos.

Finally (6th attempt) found the Louisiana Waterthrush on the western most shore
(the shore opposite to one at the main entrance to the park) of Oakland lake.

Hi all,
Just wanted to post about a sighting of my FOY Black and White Warbler and
Green Heron.
The warbler was on the south side of the lake on a few sweet gum trees while
the Green Heron was in the adjacent marshy area.

Birded the area late in the morning and was later joined by Eric and Jeff,
We had a Nashville Warbler at the Corridor and Bay-breasted Warbler at the park
Later Eric and I found a Cape-May warbler on a spruce near the lake where we
refound the Red-breasted Nuthatch I had on Thursday. Warbler
Mourning warbler, blackburnians, baybreasted since 7 am. Very busy.

Made an attempt at terns yesterday afternoon at Nicerkson beach, just saw
Common Terns and 1 or 2 least terns.
At Lido Beach Marine Conservation Area I saw Forster's terns and the only other
thing of note was a Tricoloured Heron in the marshes.
Warblers were low in numbers but there was still some activity, lots of
redsarts.
Thanks to Corey Finger we found Blackburnian and Blackpoll, and with Eric
Miller we found Mourning Warbler near the soccer field across from the
restrooms on the South end of the park.

Had 49 species at Kissena park this morning, did not have time to try the
corridor. The list includes swainson's and FOS wood thrush, scarlet tanager,
FOS golden crowned kinglet, lincolns sparrow, FOS swamp, FOS brown creeper, FOS
junco, FOS blue-headed vireos, tons of yellow rumped
Around 12:40PM today, a juvi Golden Eagle was spotted flying over Kissena Park
soaring rather high. As far as I could tell it flew south.
The bird was seen by Eric Miller, Bobby Veltri and myself.

This morning I decided to try my luck at Belmont Lake State Park, looking for
either Cackling or Barnacle goose. After searching very hard through the geese
I could not produce either species. Best duck though were two Common
Mergansers. I did see my first of year Golden-crowned Kinglet.
I attempted to see it on Saturday Morning and no luck. I also spoke to one of
the homeowners at Gilgo Beach who said he last saw it 2 weeks ago on his
neighbor's porch. I guess the osprey platforms are not the only good perching
areas.

I found the bird working its way north on the stream banks. The bird is
staying low. I found it on the stream section near the intersection of Decker

There was a Connecticut warbler on wood chipped path just past the soccer field
on peck ave, off kissena blvd. Its a path with a fenced in area on one side.
The bird was walking at the edge of the path under some tall grasses, chased an
insect and then disappeared under them. It was a tallish

The bird was there today moving along the fence and going deeper in the
vegetation at times. Even as far as the neighboring houses.Also, the gates to
the parking lot were closed today, so birders had to park in the nearby areas
and walk to the parking lot.

The Brown Booby was viewed by my wife and myself at nearly last light this
afternoon. It was located in the oyster hatchery as previously posted by Angus
Wilson among some roosting cormorants. These are located just off the marina
on Star Island.
