Location is Jones Beach West End Boat Basin, Nassau County, near the USCG
Station. We were scoping the inlet north of the comfort station. The Pacific
Loon was feeding actively and traveled a good distance from west to east as we
watched. When we left it was even with the M10 exit sign on the
Steady stream of birds from the south, seen from Staten Island. Some have
touched down about halfway between Hoffman and Swinburne Island. Others are
closer to Brooklyn. Looks like Coney Island may have good views of the
flock.

The previously reported Townsend's Solitaire was seen several times today
as it fed and roosted in a hedgerow separating two cornfields in the Town
of Copake, Columbia County. Even though the fields are actively cultivated,
the bird is actually on lands marked as Taconic State Park...The location
Viewing it now from the end of Florence Ave, but it’s distant, near the shore
on Centre Island. Whaddyagonnado?

Matthew Rymkiewicz reports that the TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE continues along
High Valley Road in Copake Falls as of 8:45am this morning (16 Feb). Sean
Camillieri was the first one to spot it today.
