[nysbirds-l] East Pond Shorebird report 8-5-16
An uptick in shorebirds on the pond was observed today. Most of the increase were Semipalmated Sandpipers estimated at near 800. Overall, the diversity remain low with 1 STILT SANDPIPER being the highlight. The water level is definitely dropping again and we should have good shoreline within a week or so. As promised, I cleared paths on the overgrown south end and around Shriber's Slew. Juvenile shorebirds remain low with a few Lesser Yellowlegs and Least Sandpipers present. Still looking for that massive push of shorebirds yet to arrive on the pond. Cheers, "I prefer to be true to myself, even at the hazard of incurring the ridicule of others, rather than to be false, and to incur my own abhorrence." ~ Frederick Douglass 風 Swift as the wind 林 Quiet as the forest 火 Conquer like the fire 山 Steady as the mountain Sun Tzu The Art of War > (\__/) > (= '.'=) > (") _ (") > Sent from somewhere in the field using my mobile device!
