Er, actually, I don't think I wrote that. I think I'm confusing that with
some work I did with the python interface, which was what crashed with
negative temperatures. I'll have to review it later but I think I took
credit for an error I didn't make. That's gotta be a first for me...

I used to use one for monitoring my water meters. Basically I had a Hall
effect sensor that would trigger off the same magnet that drove the meter
