Joe, Ctrl and shift always relate to finish, ctrl no shift to start markers. Dennis, have you checked your auto-scrol lock settings? Go into view menu auto-scrol lock should be checked, if not, this is likely to be your problem. Ctrl l is the key stroke which toggles this setting.
