I'm still busily archiving my own and others' old treasured cassettes. I had to have the belt replaced on my white elephant mcd8050 (from the old DAK catalog). I'd like to have a backup in case it goes awry again. Any suggestions for a moderately-priced, decently performing cassette deck? TIA

Do want a recorder that will record at twice the normal speed or do you want to be able to double the speed of a recording? Try looking for Fostex or Tascam, some units have a dial to adjust the speed of the tape during recording and playback, the lowest speed is likely faster than the normal
