For most of my uses, the antiquated and
much-maligned autofocus in the PZ-1p is superior to the *ist D.
I agree with that.
Two things the PZ1p excelled at: focusing on a bird in the bush
without hunting all over the place or getting stuck on
So, I've been working on some scanned negs, and noticed some
junk in the deep shadows. I'm not sure if it's just
schmutz picked up over 3+ decades, stuff from less than
perfectly clean processing, or scanner noise.
I've never seen scanner noise (that I know of), don't know
what to look for,

The boy seems to be staring down the big guy... or maybe something else is
going on. It's engaging in that I formed a solid snap judgement about the
scene but then second thoughts and new interpretations started creeping

your memory is going. it's a Firewire-only scanner. older models were
SCSI-only.
