will have fixed firmware bugs that may prevent you from experiencing

A fine gallery, Tim. What a wonderful place for a vacation. I love the

Trying to print a photo yesterday on my Epson 3800 I found that the
photo black ink cartridge appears to be empty, even though I just
replaced it a month ago and have run only a handful of prints since
then. The maintenance cartridge, which I also replaced last month, is

No matter how hard I try I can't seem to get it to hold the leash.

I've been researching the 3880 as I do expect my R2400 to die soon. It's very
old. For me, the question is between the 3800 and the 3000, since I so rarely
print larger than an 11x17.
Between the 3800 and 3880 printers, they take the same ink cartridges,
physically, but the inks are different

Don't count out canon's printers. Their ink is cheaper than epsons and
I think they make better printers. I've used a few of them from the
ipf8000 series and their smaller printers are just as good and produce
the same quality, though with less inks. I have a Pixma Pro 9500 mk2
that is 10 colors
You are correct that the epson is draining ink over time. It has to.
Otherwise the head will dry in and become unusable. Printers need to
be used often or you are just slowly bleeding ink unfortunately.

One nice thing about the epsons I must admit is that they take rolls.
17 wide isn't bad either. I didn't read your message fully and saw
you have lots of ink, so I guess that kind of makes up your mind,
doesn't it? :)

Thanks, Godfrey - That clarifies things. I stumbled into some websites
that listed the T5806 as compatible with the 3880 but they were either
in error or I maybe mis-read them.

I'm not sure that the 3800 bleeds ink when idle - it simple parks the
head and then does a mini-flush when it is powered on. I can't say say
that I know that for a fact - that's what I that I have heard. At any
rate - draining on 80ml cartridge in a month would is clearly a malfunction!

I'm pretty sure that all inkjet's drain ink when idle. I've used HP and
Canon printers and all used ink just standing still. They also use
quite a bit of ink to purge their print heads if they've been idle for a
long period.
