Wendy and I really enjoyed meeting everyone at GFM.
We also wanted to say thanks to Tom V. for driving the whole way down
and back, Bill and Phyllis Owens for their hospitality and the use of
their Kitchen facilities and to all the people who gave Wendy and I

Joining your van-pool sounds good, we will have camping photo gear and

After contemplating it and seeing some of the discussion about GFM, I've

I came back from vacation and found that my computer was acting funny, after
suspecting that my house sitter had installed something I figured out that it was this
virus. It was really just an annoyance under Windows 2000.
Here's a site I found that has a nice step by step and links to the

Sorry to get off the topic politics. But I was wondering about the SG-
60 screen, I recently acquired an extra with a body and was thinking
of selling because I like very wide angle lenses. I tried it with my
17mm f4 fish-eye and it looks fine. Boz's site (BTW Thanks and sorry

I am not sure what you are looking for when you say class of number, if you mean
from a mathematical sense, then:
Numbers that can be expressed as fractions (ratios) are called Rational numbers.
Numbers that cannot be expressed as fractions (non repeating, non terminating
decimals) like PI
Aren't LX's great like that.
Try Pentax in Colorado, if you call their 800 number they have a parts
department selection, I'm sure that's one they will have.

Does any one know where I can get a replacement battery compartment cover for
my LX? (There's one on the ground somewhere in
The mirror box foam light seals and back door light seals degrade
also. Not an expensive fix. Also check the view finder (focusing
screen and mirror) for the greasy black deposits from the degraded
foam. If these problems occur, the shop selling it may fix them for
you or adjust the price.
If I use the extention tubes, what are the other effects. Do I loose the
ablility to focus to infinity, does it increase magnification of the lens?
Thanks,
Geoff

Fred,
I will be curious to hear what you come up with. One of the main
features I wanted was smaller size and lighter weight, and I believe
this is one of the smaller 300mm lenses. I was planning on traveling
with this lens, even though taking it goes against my travel light
philosophy.
The LX is a fine camera. However, It is not the most modern camera
and cannot do many automatic things. I personally like manual
cameras; the only SLRs I own are MXs and LXs. The question to
buy one or not should be based on what you can afford and what
your needs are. The LX has some
Sounds like I picked the right one for the weight/size requirement. I
have heard the focusing distance issue before. Why does that
matter to so many people. I bought this lens to shoot things that are
far away not close.
Geoff
You will barely find a lighter all-metal made 300mm
lens. The
I just got it today, thanks again to Collin. It seems like it is a
pretty decent one, although the shade is kind of beat up. You also
solved the mystery of how you knew so much about mpexs stock beyond
what they post on their site. I am sorry to hear about Dave Thomas it

Thanks! Just snagged the 300. I've been looking for the A*300 for a
while. It was $375 in case w/caps for an 8+, seems like a very
reasonable price. Well see when I get it, I bought an MX there a
while ago but it was broken. They were great about taking back and
reimbursing me though. I
I've seen a few on ebay, I don't track the actual values like some of
the other PDML'ers. But I think the FA-1 goes for about $75 and up
depending on condition, box, etc. Also try an ebay search on
completed items, always a good way to see what has sold recently,
although they get dropped
I'm glad to here that. I have been contemplating buying the A 100
2.8, if I am ever lucky enough to find it. What should I expect to pay
for one in good condition?

I recently purchased a Fuji 4x loupe, which is very crisp and clear.

BH in New York has them for $799 last time I checked. They have

stores here in the DC Metro area seem to have them, although I
haven't looked lately, but I
Hi,
I was contemplating getting a 300mm Lens. I use LXs and MXs so I
was thinking of getting a manual focus lens. There is an SMC M
300mm f4 on ebay right now that I was thinking of bidding on. I was
also thinking of getting a 2x tele-converter to use in conjunction with
it. I wanted to
Did you request this as a rebuild or did you specify each thing you
wanted them to do to it?

I would highly recommend the MX, its an extremely compact and
fully mechanical semi-pro model. Its simple and has some nice
features. Its my favorite camera (after the LX). You can get a
decent one on ebay for about $150. You wont regret it. I have
several, I even dropped down some
Does anyone know what the maximum shuter length is on the LX on

sayingthat they did a 45 minute exposure on auto. Also is this
something that changed over course of
