Last week I saw Pentax K7, 18-55 and 50-200 at Fry's Electronics
in northern Houston, TX
I suspect there was some other Pentax DSLR body, but I was short on
time to see what it was.

Yesterday I went to the local Fry's Electronics (Concord, CA) to replace
my mouse and of course I had to swing through the camera section.
I played with the X70 a little and was slightly underwhelmed, but I
think it would be a good camera for general ultra-zoom use. I may still
recommend it to
I was on the phone with Keeble Shucat just now. No K-7 in stock,
just a few lenses. They did not know when they would be getting K-7
stock either since the Pentax rep left.

Wolfe/Ritz can't order any new anything from Hoya (read Pentax) since they

Thanks-
Since I got it at a good price, I'll use it as a hazardous duty
lens, and maybe a walk-around lens.
Cheers

It's not a good idea in my mind to be associated with any of the big
box stores but that's the only way they're going to sell product these
days. Better get used to it.

I went to Penn Camera some days ago (sounds odd, doesn't it? ;-) ),
but Pentax was all but non-existent there. Few old manual lenses in
the used gear department, nothing in the new gear department. When
asked whether they had K-7 battery, the clerk indicated that he had no
idea what I was talking

Penn Camera is dropping Pentax- I bought a DA 50-200 f4-5.6 there
last weekend for $150- the salesman said that was less than their price.
BTW- that is where I bought my K100D.
[While I have my hand up, what is the general opinion of the lens?]

According to the people I deal with at my local independent camera

Keeble is in Palo Alto, not San Jose. ;-)
Who's your coworker friend working there? I know most of the

Yes, I know, but I decided to make it slightly simpler for people who
don't know all the towns in Silicon Valley.
Jonathan Parnell is my old coworker. Nice

There is a local Fry's here in Chicago, near me.
John Carlson said the same at GRM in June.
The midwest guy was working to get into Fry's.
Hope it makes it to my store.
