I recently bought a 17-70 and I use it as mt walking around lens on the K5. It gives a good range of focal lengths when I don't want to take a large camera bag full of lenses. I am not sure about the image quality at wide apertures, I like to keep it at about f6.7

Cat 6 has a plastic core that keeps the four pairs separated. This gives it higher bandwidth, but makes it bigger and stiffer. What bandwidth do you need to transmit over the cable? The 5e should be less springy and may be sufficient electrically, especially for only 30m or so. Steve
