Re: Pentax to make new film camera?

2023-03-24 Thread Bob W PDML
Couldn’t you just buy them all a Leica M11 and a selection of lenses?

Something a bit more practical could probably be done in software. My phone and
my bike GPS both have a ‘Guest’ mode whereby you can limit the functionality
when you lend the device to someone. On the GPS it’s for people who run
self-guided cycle tours - you put in the routes and that’s all the client can
use except for emergency contact.

It would probably not take much to program a manual-only mode into a DSLR.

For the new Pentax they wouldn’t go far wrong if they just revived something
like the P30/P3 and 2-3 PKA lenses.

I'd really prefer it if they (or someone else) made an all-manual DSLR
for photography students. Having so much automation available is a
real handicap for my beginning students learning photography.

I'm not 100% sure it came from a slide - I'm working from a scanned image.
I know it has to be from film, because the picture was taken in 2000. The
pixel dimensions of the scan suggest it's from the Nikon LS-30 scanner.
I agree that it looks like noise in the blue channel. And while the LS-30
does a better job with slides than the HP PhotoSmart scanner it replaced,
it's still going to have a hard time with parts of the image that are
nearly black (especially if the shot is somewhat under-exposed).
