Yes Stan it does have a Rubber brace that the front of the lens sits on. You can kind of see it in the picutre. The strap just keeps it nice and tight to prevent it from moving. The whole unit can be put on a quick release plate and snapped on and off your tripod quickly. The beauty of it is it
