At the beginning of my SW I allotted two day for fun and photography at
Yosemite.
This is not my best shot, I think, but the most encompassing one, i.e.,
showing the biggest area. Valley View, except I had to scoot down nearer the
river,
because they have allowed two bushes to grow as big as
Excellent composition. The mist adds a nice degree of softness to the
background.
It looks great in Bw but I wonder what the colour version was like?

IMO at 1600ISO and 400ISO the difference is obvious but at 800ISO it
seems a lot less obvious to me.

The colour version had very little colour in it. Just a bit of green for
the water plants and a cyan/blue tinge in the mist. To my eye it had just
enough colour to ruin the composition and not enough to add anything
meaningful.

think the light was low enough to know for sure whether it doesn't

Since the AF500FTZ does not have auto-computer IIRC, this flash is useless
with the K10D, except for manual calculations, naturallly.
To me this is a major issue, since I have several expensive TTL-flashes,
that I use with my *ist D. One of them is priced similar to the K10D body!

I know it's color, but I like the black and white quality of the images.
Especially the trees...
My first impressions of the K10D are similar to yours.
The 10.1 megs plus SR does seem to bump up resolution.
I'm quite happy with the R2400. Colour prints are great, but BW is
where it really shines is why I got it. I would have loved the R4800
but there was no way I could justify the cost. If I ever need larger
than A3, I'll go to one of the local labs.
A full set of inks is relatively expensive
Stance of 'visitor' and especially the background, really make this
shot for me. Shallow DOF will bother some.

be much of a difference in speed. Delete all will honor protect bits
if you set them.

I imagine that's due to having suffered past criticism for a tendency
to over sharpen ;-)
I've since adjusted the in-camera sharpening setting to + one stop to
give me a bit of a encouragement, so to speak.

R2400, you rarely need to profile the printer. You need to calibrate
your monitor and adopt a color managed workflow.
