eric, you can remove the silver from used fixer with
copper... some folks use sheets of it
the silver copper happily trade places, it's not really an
attack...
don't know about the other process you have in mind, though

there are always a few silver atoms in a used developer
solution but nowhere near the amount you would find in used
fixer
copper is, in fact, used as a test for silver content after
silver recovery to make sure the silver level is low enough
for disposal
Many thanks,

Don't feel bad, Chris.
I went to check the site just as I got Andy's email and the offer was
closed. Suspect that there may have been a deal outside and the seller
withdrew his offer. That happens quite often on eBay...

Too bad this is already over. I had just been checking this produce out

It went for $21.50 which was probably a steal. I guess I need to check
my pinhole messages more often.

Hi:
I read somewhere that copper used in one of the 3 common solutions in the
darkroom causes sulpherdioxide gas wich causes headaches, drowsyness, and
other side effecs. Why don't you e-mail Ilford's saftey people? They're

Dear Joao
I'm no mathematician but I think you will find that the parts of the film
nearest the pinhole will receive a greater amount of light for a given area
than parts of the film further away
This is because of the inverse square law, which states simply that the
radiation falling on a
Hello all,
Is is possible to use copper scraps to plate out silver from spent fixer?
There seems to be a mild attack on the copper if it is placed into spent fixer.
I am almost tempted to try copper plate etching for intaglio printing plates
using the fixer as a mordent.

Thanks Bill and Guillermo for your answers.
But ...
Geometrically/mathematically speaking, the angle changes when the
pinhole diameter changes, the change is so small tho, that in practice you
can dismiss it. Since you want to calculate the cone angle, otherwise
known as angle of view,
