Re: [Ql-Users] Sinclair QL documents, manuals and magazines
Today I've scanned a Sinclair QL advertisement out of a 1984 magazine as a trial. Check it out: 1) as PDF (v1.4, two layers graphic and text, text searchable) http://www.cowo.ch/downloads/SinclairQL_advertisement_doublepage_1984-0x.pdf That's great - the text layer makes it very easy to search for text in a scanned document even though it looks like a graphic. Is the OCR part pretty reliable and needing little proof reading/correction afterward? 2) as JPG http://www.cowo.ch/downloads/SinclairQL_advertisement_doublepage_1984-0x.jpg I did go for best quality not for small file size. - Welcome to 2009 with powerful PC's and fast Internet all around. ;-) Regards, Urs As long as we have broadband to download them ;-)) -- Dilwyn Jones ___ QL-Users Mailing List http://www.q-v-d.demon.co.uk/smsqe.htm

Re: [Ql-Users] Sinclair QL documents, manuals and magazines
That sounds fantastic. You are welcome! We have space in our server acount. Have you thought of centralizing all the docs? If you think that is well, you can send me the files via email or through sftp (secure ftp over ssh) to my home server. Many docs can be scanned again if you have better quality paper copies. We scanned at monocrome (1 bit) 300 dpi. to minimize the final file size. Can you convert to PDF? This is not important, we can, but using the option to scan documents from Acrobat the end file are smaller. Documents created from images of pages the document takes up more space. [Ql-Users] Sinclair QL documents, manuals and magazines
This is the year of the 25th anniversary of the QL. For several months in Sinclair QL Spanish Resources been preparing for this event a wide collection of PDF material about the QL now put at your disposal. More than 100 manuals, books and magazines (yes, in English) that have gone through the scanner with better or worse luck in terms of quality concerns, but that insurance will be useful for the community because this material years ago which has started to dwindle and unfortunately we are increasingly less to keep alive the flame of QL. The documents include: The book The definitive handbook QL SuperBASIC of Jan Jones, the creator of the QL programming language: The SuperBASIC. This is a book published by McGraw Hill and was re-edited by Quanta later. It also highlights the manual QL Technical Guide by Tony Tebby, with all the secrets on a QDOS programmer. Items on the other hand is varied: Leguajes programming and compilers, toolkits and extensions to the operating system, game manuals, manuals of many productivity programs, manuals on specific hardware, 5 books and 12 issues of the journal QL World.
