I am trying to guss up a LC 575 I am giving to a friend's daughter for her
use. Where can I find some cartoon icons, like Rugrats?
Thanks...

Is there a web site that will allow the posting of pictures online via an LC
580 usingsystem 7.5. I'm part of an Argus Camera users group and would love to
post pictures that I have taken with my faithful Argus C 3 Matchmatic as well
as my Argus C 4.
Thank you

Well I have one, and it's a screamer! It was kind of funny, because I got
two identical looking computers at once, one was a Performa 636CD as you
have, and the other was a Power Mac 6214, which uses the exact same case and
hardware set-up. I worked with the PM first, which I believe was running
Okay, I will reply the best I can.
I have the version without the CD -- the cost was like
$1300 back when it was bought!! (worth less than a
hundred now)
Yes, they were very expensive new. I still say they were very good machines.
Maybe you got a lemon, I don't know.

Hey, especially thanks for the link. I've also had to deal with the adapters
issue. An adapter I bought came with no documentation, and 10 slide
switches. The manufacturer suggested trying all combinations, and that even
they did

It's not the zip cartridge, it is the zip drive. That is called the Click
of Death, and it is very common with zip drives. There are sites out there
that tell you how to take the drive apart and fix it (Google click of
death), but it might be easier just to buy another one off ebay. They only

Are those OEM branded CDs bootable? I have an SE/30

You would probably need an external CD drive, as the ones that came with the
older units (if any did) were usually too slow to allow the machine to boot
At Ease is the best way to do that prior to system 9 (it only runs up
through system 8.6). I use it all the time, it allows you to both password
protect, and choose which programs will be available to different individual
users. I think it is available as a free download from the Apple archive
I think there were some network versions of At Ease that locked the disk out
if started with another disk, but I am not sure. I have only worked with the
regular retail version, which I love and still use all the time.

It certainly could be the hard drive, but it is not necessarily. The
question mark means the system simply cannot find a start up system. Do you
have an internal or external CD drive? Start the system with a OS CD, and
see if the hard drive mounts. You may just need to reinstall the Operating
The reason I mentioned an external CD drive is often the stock CD drive that
came with the LC575 was not fast enough to boot the computer. Also, you
would do much better to start it up with a system 8, 8.6, or 9 (not 9.1 or
higher) CD than system 7. Even if you eventually reinstall system 7, I
I have had some that would boot via built in CD too, but I have also worked
on ones that would not. Some of them shipped with single speed CD-ROM
drives.
