are terrified of anything that doesn't look like a Microsoft
OS.
The only caveat is the disk space utilization. Having a complete OS
image for every student for every class could eat up terabytes of space.
But heck, terabyte RAID arrays are readily available these days.

R has various methods for multiple comparison procedures. See package
multcomp, or ?TukeyHSD or ?pairwise.t.test for example. An
RSiteSearch(multiple comparison) returned 187 results. A priori contrasts
can be constructed using the make.contrasts function in the gmodels
package, for example.

I think the questioner was interested in pairwise.t.test. See
?pairwise.t.test. From looking at the source, pairwise.t.test calls t.test
if sd's are not pooled, or calculates its own t.val if sds are pooled. It
looks very easy to hack to return the t values instead of the p values.

I have a data set matrix of 1200 * 15. How can I get the position of a
specific value in the matrix?
I use seq(along = x)[x value] to look for the position of the
value in the matrix, but seq can just find the
