Pie crust
3 c. flour
1 tsp salt
2 sticks butter
1/2 c. cold water
Preheat oven to dg350.
Stir together flour and salt in medium bowl.
With pastry blender, cut in butter.
Add water, a little at a time, mixing by hand, until dough is smooth.
Divide dough in half. Place one half onto floured

1 stick butter
1 c. sugar
3 (1 oz. each) squares unsweetened chocolate
2 eggs
1 c. chopped pecans
3/4 c. flour
1 tsp vanilla extract
Preheat oven to dg350. Grease an 8- by 8-inch baking pan.
Melt butter in small saucepan. Pour into mixing bowl; stir in sugar.

President Johnson's Chewy Macaroons
2 egg whites at room temperature
Pinch of salt
1/2 c. sugar
1 c. sweetened shredded coconut
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Preheat oven to dg325. Lightly grease several baking sheets.
Beat egg whites with salt until stiff.
Gradually beat in sugar until stiff,
Chili Con Queso
1 10-oz. can Ro-Tel tomatoes with green chilis
1 lb. American cheese
Warm tortilla chips
In top of double-boiler mix tomatoes with cheese.
Cook over hot water for an hour, stirring often, until thick and
creamy. Serve at once with warm tortilla chips.
Yield 3 cups--6 to 8
