The other thought to this whole problem is running without a Duplexer and using two antennas on the tower with proper separation. The cost of the Coax might be higher due to running two lengths, but then the cost of a duplexer isn't that cheap either as I have found. Anyone know what the
How about a metal equipment enclosure or outdoor cabinet? Trying to split the send and receive, preamp the receive, and then recombine the two is possible, but in my humble opinion, not very practical. How tall is the mast, and how much of the run is from the shelter to the mast?

We are in the process of replacing our repeater with a Kenwood TKR-

There's downloadable docs on both the IFR-FM-AM-1100S and the
IFR FM /
Short Wave Shop..? Hopefully they also know bit about VHF.
:-)
I can send you a kpg-91d dat file if you email me direct.
I've supplied a number of tkr-750 repeaters to hams... and
probably have a file around to share.

Dave,
A couple of years ago, I set up a TKR-750K1 repeater for a local Amateur
Radio club. The club bought the repeater without realizing that the K1
version is for 146-174 MHz, while the K2 version is for 136-150 MHz. This
was a moot point, since the repeater pair was at 147 MHz. The K1

Skipp,
You must be thinking about a different repeater. I use KPG-66D software on
both K1 and K2 versions, with no incompatibility issues. The Kenwood
service manual B51-8556-10 makes no mention of KPG-91D software.

S, the obvious question is: How does one tell the difference between K2

The official answer is by serial number. Above x-number
serial number is a version 2 repeater. I'll post the number

the Kenwood factory will tune them at a very low cost. I can not have my

Let's be clear about the difference between programming and tuning. In the
particular case I mentioned in a previous posting on this thread, the
TKR-750K1 repeater was factory-programmed to the correct 2m frequencies and
CTCSS tones, but the factory did not adjust (tune) the receiver front end.
When we as dealers order the TKR-750 and 850 repeaters there is a factory
code for them to tune the TX and RX to peak it out. I have never had a
problem getting the factory to do it correct but you have to order it
correctly to get it done. Also on all the dealer price sheets they tell you

Well Lets see, 4 Watts = +6.02 dBw, plus 5.0 dB of Gain in the antenna for +11.02, minus coax loss, lets guestimate 1.5 dB and connector / adaptor loss of 0.5 dB would put you at +9.02 dBw, or 7.98 Watts ERP - just shy of 8 Watts. Since you are using a simplexor there is no duplexer loss. If

would want or need. But they took the suggestion to put
