Some time ago in another post I already asked for compact 6m repeater antenna
ideas as we're limited in antenna height in the place we want to install our
upcoming 6m club repeater. Obviously this was no easy to solve problem.

Mounting the Squalo vertically will probably give you some sort of wierd
directional pattern, not good for a repeater. I would opt for a ground
plane or base loaded mobile whip mounted over a set of 3 or 4 1/4 wave
ground radials.

Hi Joe
We have access to 3 platforms of that tower and the total height of all our
antennas on all platforms must not exceed 5 meters. As far as I could find out
if 2 or 4 coupled antennas would be mounted on the same level around the tower
they would probably count as one system with the
I agree with Joe, but I believe if mounted as designed, the performance,
while not earth shaking, will be much better than a mobile antenna with
radials.

A friend brought over an Icom rp-1510 that he had bought and wanted to change
the cwid call. It looks like the call may be contained in the 27256 EPROM.
Since the EPROM was in a socket, so I unplugged it and read the data. I could
see nothing that looked like a callsign, so I suspect it is

Hmmm. That's a tougher one. Mostly I use the Polyphasers (PLDO-120US-15A

Isobar Ultra series is another (ISOBAR8ULTRA et al). The Isobars also have

In paragraphs 26 and 27, the Commission proposes removing the licensing
requirement from GMRS, end call signs, and remove station identification. I
strongly disagree with the Commission's proposal. I believe in the license

Hi all.
Has anyone used QRZ.com recently to look at a call sign and was challenged for
a login and a password?
I tried to look up a callsign for verification of an address, but was unable to
go any further until I emailed their admin for a current login and password.

OK, I'm familiar with those single-point grounding panel protection devices.
How about a service panel protector for home use?
And a service panel protector for a small (200A) 3-phase panel?
I ask, rather than simply Google for it, because Google could come up with
some units that are not

Chuck,
Square D makes a line of heavy-duty, commercial-grade surge protectors for
both 120/240 VAC residential and 208Y/120 VAC commercial systems:

Dave,
That is correct. But before that change, anyone could access the database and
get all of the details of that license that he / she was looking at.
My question, why did this change?

Found this laying about, was used years ago on a CE-5 service monitor. I've

Hi Group,
Just curious if anyone has had a play with the new HYT (HYTERA) RD982 series of

Certainly the gear looks good on paper and in real life, but interested in
feedback on anybody that has had a chance of really giving it a

Hytera has said that the repeater will be able to eventually site connect
with other Hytera repeaters like Motorola IPSC system. Currently they are
working on the firmware to come out with the ability to release this

Just to mention that both the portable and mobile work on the IPSC system

I'm searching for a transceiver to put into service for a link on existing

have proper test equipment.
