would be a nice addition but there is no reason it must happen straight away.
I fully agree with this.
I also fully agree with this - keep the discussion focus on the functionality

Hello Thomas,
I have created http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/PortingApplication. I hope this is
helpful. I've written all my experience down to it, but it may lack essential
information that I cannot think of right now. But luckily it's a wiki page
that I (and everyone else) can extend where
I'm also no Android specialist, so please forgive me if my thoughts don't make
sense on that platform.
Right, but without some mechanism to load a newer build of rockbox (or
a user build) it means than the android target can only run builds we
release, which goes against the whole svn build
Hi Thomas,
big gratulations - great work!
You asked if you missed something.
Well, I don't know - but one thing came to my mind:
One goal of RaaA was to build a framework to make porting RaaA to new
platforms easy.
So I wonder if you created a good and understandable developers documentation
Hi everybody,
- the ability to set colours to work on the fly (i.e. as it always did, most
useful for actually seeing the colour/readability on target. A reboot, or
text file editing, should not be part of this)
I absolutely second that!
Users will not understand why they need to reboot or
Hi pondlife,
I'll put it back at my h340 and we'll see...
Now I did put it back - unfortunately it's the firmware with v5 bootloader :-(
At least we know that I went back mid of August.
And I had the SVN bootloader a few weeks - so I think mid to end of July the
SVN bootloader worked!
Sorry
Hi pondlife,
That makes me feel a bit better - as if I bricked so that you wouldn't have
to...:)
Even if it'a bit ironic - I'm absolutely thankful, that you did the brick
before I did it. Thank you!
My last try with a SVN bootloader was this year (don't remember if it was

Hi pondlife,
I REALLY welcome your effort to finally create a new (release) H300 bootloader!
The current released H300 bootloader (v5) is now over 3 years old, and has
several issues that have been resolved in SVN* since::
- Unable to start the device using the standard (non-LCD) remote.

Hi,
There's the project's wiki : http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/GSoCSansaView
Thanks for pointing me to that page.
But: there's no current progress available (last change of that page is from
Mid' July).
If it's still correct - the information research for the used hardware is still

Hi everybody,
as far as I remember there was a GSOC person who works (or worked?)
on a port of rockbox for the Sansa View.
I also see, that the View is part of the rbconf now.
How is the state of the port?
Is it already usable? Or does it still lack essential functionality?
Or has the GSOC
Hi everybody,
I just noticed a problem in current builds of rockbox when I use my iRiver H300.
I start listening to e.g. an audiobook, switch the hold on (the screen
immediately
switches off - was it always like this?) and put the device in my pocket.
After a while (approx. 20min) I get it out

Hi everybody,
in general I agree to Jonathan, I personally really like to configure
everything what's possible ;-)
BUT: I usually only do it until I'm happy with the settings; from then on I
only change a few ones.
So we could consider about having an external tool (either a plugin or even
Hi XavierGr,
I don't know (and didn't look at) how the scrolling is coded.
But wouldn't it in principal be better to avoid such hacks such as space
padding (or any other character)?
Why not code a waiting time when the scrolling comes to the end of the screen?
In that waiting time the
Hi Peter,
He managed to find that commit by the time Devcon was over, so I hope he can
figure out what went wrong in it. FYI, the commit that broke it was his ;)
So we can hope that an new official bootloader without your problem
will be released soon - that's good news :-)

Hi,
it seems the DevCon Europe 2008 was a lot fun for the participants.
It's a pity that I was unable to join the party :-)
Now to my question:
Regarding to http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/DevConEuro2008
there were plans to test and maybe release an update H3x0 bootloader.
Did this
Hi Jonathan,
or %pb|filename|x|y|width|height| where any of them can be left blank
to be given default values... (e.g %pb100|10| would give a non bmp
bar at the viewports x position, the lines y position, 100 wide and 10 high.)
What does given default value mean for the width and height?
There exist additional plugins for adblock plus that can block pieces of HTML
as well, so you can in fact block these ads too if you want to.
That's interesting. Do you have a link to them?
(searching for adblock plus extension did not help...)

Mea culpa. Frankly I thought they were so obvious that it wasn't needed. I've
added a header now.
If you're familar with rockbox and the rockbox web pages it is obvious - but I
think, if you're visiting
the page the first time it (was) not.
So adding a header was imho the right decision :)

Hi Paul,
What more do you want done? I think the word Ads: above them is pretty clear.
I wrote my first post before Björn added the header.

For me the most important one is the possibility to handle the startup

non-LCD remote...
That works fine with the bootloader I'm using, (r14938M).
That's another reason to release an updated bootloader version ;)

Hi Daniel,
it would still be nice to have solved some of the problems in the released
bootloader.
What issues are there currently?
Look at http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/IriverBoot#H320_H340
There is a table with known issues and other TODOs and which already have
been fixed
Hi Daniel,
Also, if the svn has a bug in the bootloader, it can make your target
unbootable even if it's not your fault. That's why Rockbox releases
bootloader.
The last released H300 bootloader is from july, 2006!
Regarding the TODO list at the above page, a lot of things have been fixed
Hi Linus,
The thing is that the current SVN bootloader still has issues with some
hard drives, and I don't want to release a bootloader that doesn't work.
And the released bootloader don't have this issues?
- If they also have the issues, the SVN bootloader should still be better than

Hi Marianne,
thanks for your help - I read the IRC talk with przemhb, but my situation is
bit different.
I definitly always used LF and not CRLF (I just checked, the bdf for example
have unix line endings).

Here are my 2 Cents:
Actually I don't care about the usage of any GPL or even LGPL like license
(that includes Apcahe style, BSD and others)
- but I would prefer not to update to GPLv3 because I don't like some of the restrictions which have found it's way into the
license.
If the license
Just to summarize, it separates the concepts of line height and
font height so that you can define the former, and use any font with
equal or less line height to equal effect.
I really like the idea - and I think it should be added to SVN !
And it would be still useful when viewports are
This is a bad option.. all settings should be available on the DAP. A
nicer option is maybe having 2 sets of options, simple and
advanced where the only difference is some options are not visible
in simple mode.
I like the idea!
The reason I dislike (despise is probably closer, in fact) the
MRU is a great idea! That's more flexible than my idea and has the
same effect eventually.
NOOO!
I already hate those personalized menus in Windows and Office.
It's one of the first options I always disable.
I don't like it when menus change (hide) without my impact.

If no, has somebody a deeper vision or technical description on how it should

Hi everybody!
A while ago (march 2006) pyro (Chris Dohan) created a patch
(FS#4770) which initialized the PCF50606 and adds USB
charging during USB connection for the iRiver H3x0 target.
After a while (april) I asked, why the patch did not get comitted
to the CVS. Linus answered, that it lacks
