Has anyone installed a 60 trim turbo into A 89 daytona shelby? They send me
a turbo with the intake having a flange. I'm having trouble having a nozzle
made with the engine out of the car. I had them weld the nozzle at a angle
and I just put the engine back on and it is off. I'm thinking of
Last year my sister had her high mileage car break down for good and she was
in need of a new daily driver. A local friend knew of a good deal on a 2.5
powered minivan so I thought it would be a dependable vehicle for her. I use
one myself for m company minivan and it's been quite good with me.
David,
I have seen this quite a few times working at the dealer and everyone broke
in the same exact place, between the intake and exhaust lobe of the #1
cylinder.
While I haven't seen it in a few years because of the decline of the 2.2 and
2.5 powered cars every once and a while it will pop
One extra step I would do if it is a used cam is to install the camshaft
without the followers and make sure it is not bent. It should turn evenly
without binding.

I had a roller cam break on my 1988 Sundance T1 about three years ago. I
was sitting at a traffic light when the engine suddenly stopped. Prior
to the traffic light, I was in stop-and-go traffic. When I tried to
re-start, only the starter turned. I pushed the car into a gas station
and
A good idea but one thing comes to mind.
Could be a warped head, I have seen the head be bent and the cam saddles be
off but usually after a severe overheat condition and then the head was
resurfaced.
I have never seen a bent camshaft yet, the word yet is there for a reason but
this would be
Hello All, thank you for your responses, in reply to your questions. I
checked the TPS when the problem started, the voltage is a steady rise all
the way to WOT and in the proper range as well. I changed the fuel filter
less than a year ago. And no, there is no charge air sensor even though it
Marc:
Why not sell the engine as a whole?
You could just run manifold pressure direct to the wastegate actuator to
give you about 7 pounds boost for street driving.
This should improve reliability and reduce ticket potential while
allowing the fun settings for race days.
If you swap engines
Actually, the intercooler makes for a leaner burn, since the air is both
cooler and more dense. OTOH, your problem sounds to me like a fuel pump
that is on its way out, or a clogged filter. It only takes a real bad
tank of gas for a filter to be clogged. It could be the TPS, but I
seriously
I am actually having the same problem with my 1989 shelby Daytona TII
The car seems to drive fine as long as I don't go over 3500-4000 rpm's then
it just bogs/dies like the fuel is shutoff. Like a car that has the choke on
- I have replaced all of the sensors(except the Charge
Had this happen to myself too! Fired up the car (90 Daytona) It was the
middle of winter, about 15C below. car ran fine, drove about 2kms, and she
up and died, rolled it over, and it sounded like the timing belt was gone,
So we pulled the timing belt cover off, and the cam sprocket was hanging
I had one break in my '87 CSX. I think it was between cylinders 1 and 2,
if I remember right. I can confirm that a 2.2L will run on one cylinder,
but not very well or for very long. :) My opinion is that it is often
caused by too much tension on the timing belt. I'm pretty sure that was
the case
I have a new process that I can take advantage of, to take new stock style
rubber tranny mounts and fill the gap with real mount style polyurethane,
not the windsheild stuff. Usually you need to heat/bake the items, this
would not be good for the rubber part. As you may know, in the past I
Turbo L-bodies sre the smae
Non turbos are different
The dealership can still get them the last I checked
They were cheap too.
If you want to switch to a cable shifter cable LMK
I have everything you need

I think you have to pull the side covers and pull them with the shafts
You don't have to remove the trans from the car though
Just don't push in the clutch

over tightening the timing belt can also have this effect on the camshafts
too. never over tension the belt tensioner. follow your FSM for proper belt
tension. i havent snapped a cam in any of my 2.2 rebuilds yet. currently 35K on
my
turbo baron top end overhaul and counting.

Sorry bruce to steal the post, but its funny how your car is 1.2 seconds and
10mph faster than my car, and our wheel HP is near the same. LOL

Would this fit any body, engine and trans combo for 90-95?
