[RCSE] Nats's changes

2001-12-07 Thread Jason Werner
Seems interesting the comments recieved. Someone, right or wrong, is trying to come up with a way to keep the NATS viable, create a better international presence from the USA, and increase interest in events that are the backbone of all the events out there. Not just soaring. Just looking, not

[RCSE] Muncie site

2001-12-07 Thread Dave
I'd like to add my .02 worth to the fray. In 2000, we visited the AMA HQ at Muncie. It was 5 July. The fields were absolutely the most beautiful flying sites and terrific facilitiesI have ever seen. AMA did well to secure this site for all modelers, both present and future. This being said,

2001-12-07 Thread Pat McCleave
Jason and others, I have heard comments that many people that go to the Nats only fly certain events such as two meter because they want to fly all the days if they are going to go. I myself am one of those people, but would much rather see two meter dropped in favor of giving more days to

[RCSE] WinchDoctor's short course on Batteries

2001-12-07 Thread Winchdoc
It was raining pretty good last night here in the Pacific Northwet, and I decided to pay a visit to the Winch doctor's hut in the woods. He was busy in his secret underground machine shop working on some secret project, and told me, "Sorry, eyes only. Need-to-know basis only, you know what

While I would never dare to contradict the word of the good Doctor, I would like to offer another battery option. Take a look at the sealed Optima Batteries. Both the yellow top and blue top batteries are deep cycle with the only apparent difference being the specific gravity of the electrolyte.

If we are talking about thinking outside of the box, here's a thought. Seems as if Muncie has a beautiful site that can handle all the disciplines. The major gripe is that West/East coast guys can't afford the cost to travel there. How about if the AMA offers clubs a travel package to attend the

I found the expense argument of getting to Indiana, kind of silly. The real question is, how badly do you want to test your skills against the rest of the country? Drive, initiative, and determination will always be part of any real test. In order to accumulate the best possible FAI

Jack, I was not proposing adding more days, I was proposing adding days to the more popular events at the cost of the less popular (less attended) events. I do not get to go to the Nats very often but when I do go, I go and volunteer along with my flying, so I know what you mean about the
