I found the Exocortex Alembic google group and found some info. Installed it by
copying the modules folder to
C:\ExocortexAlembic\Maya2016\Module
- and put the .mod file in
C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Maya2016.5\modules
- and made sure the path in the .mod file was
Arnold 5.0 and earlier can use RLM only, so if you buy new licenses from

New licenses use Flexlm.
Previous version licenses use RLM
Set them up as plugins on a network share, and then modify the environment
variables at launch time to point to the required version, we are doing

it also has some nice tools to make things hollow, to save on print material.
You can also check for errors like non-manifold geometry and walls that are too

I basically did a simple ( Redshift ) shading setup in Houdini on the

I have absolutely!! no love for AD but I will chime in on this. We had
stupid issues with getting our new Maya licenses working after upgrading
FlexLM (the pile of crap) which was required for running newer Maya
versions.
