I agree that the kidney curve is not very
pretty. You would be happier if we could
go back to the year 1246 when the analemma
had mirror symmetry about its long axis.
This would tidy up the kidney a little!

“Make a Sundial” British Sundial Society publication.
There is also one on the rear of Jim Morrison’s astrolabe.
