The upgrade to 1.2RC4 didn't work - via firmware upload. I backed up the
settings, installed fresh from ISO image I downloaded of RC4 and restored
the settings and it was a good result.
So I recommend you avoid the firmware upgrade.

download whatever version makes you happy, feed it into your firmware update
(doesn't matter what hardware) and let it update.
Don't forget to backup your config first.
