Yes.
Crude, degummed oil is what is sold by the tonne. That's from the
crusher plant. I imagine it is filteres to soem extent but maye not to the
level needed for fuel.
There is also the heated seed market - seed that is not fit for high
quality oil but would make good oil for fuel use.

Don't strap a fuel line onto an exhaust pipe. You would have liquid-high
pressure vapor-liquid,along the line. The fuel in the section of line strapped
to the exhaust would turn to high pressure vapor, which would push the liquid
fuel out of the line, towards the engine and back into the tank. If
I did not previously explain the danger as well as Stephen just did,
but should have. There are situations where using exhaust heat might
make good sense, but this arrangement is not one of them. Testing
Murphy's Law in this way puts lives at risk.

I'm planning to use a 12 volt beverage heater that plugs into the
cigarette lighter to preheat my diesel or SVO fuel. Here's my idea:
Get a glass canning jar with a screw on lid. Insert two plastic
barbed 90 degree to threaded fittings into the lid. They cost me $.65
each. It will look like
I want to enter my '82 vw rabbit; 40 MPG, renewable, recycled power source,

I probably have just missed something in regards to this preheater
design (and I must say CREATIVE!!) but how does the not yet heated
biod get from the cold, cold, fuel tank to the heater? Won't my fuel be
gelled in the tank? Or perhaps I just have missed out on the purpose of

Hi Greg
To run on straight oils/fats you'll have to heat the tank and the
whole fuel line as well. (You need two tanks, the other for diesel or
biodiesel for startup/shutdown.)

I didn't try this but heard from friends that in Germany they use an
insulated halogen 12 V lamp screwed into fuel tank with raw vegetable oil to
