Face it. Track is an individual sport. What athletes have really done a lot
to publicize the sport of track and field? I am sure you can all name many
but how many of them really did it for the sake of the sport and not
themselves. We are all selfish in our own way.
It's easy to take pot
Great publicity job they've done - not! Their website does give him a
passing mention, but doesn't make clear he's competing or indeed that it is
the world record holder Mike Powell.

Ac tually he chose not to run because his hamstring was sore after the 200 and he did not want to risk injury ... And MJ spent his career with ice packs at/around/near his hamstrings ... But never the less th eUS is so deep in the 400 that with the exception of the 1991 Worlds debacle (anchored
How are Powell's injury problems? My memory is fallible and maybe I am not

the latter part of his career figured signficantly in his retirement. Seems
a bit surprising he would risk injury again, as the last few times he
Personally, I don't care what MJ's motives are. Even if, as some have
suggested, he is only interested about his own well being and doesn't care
to help the sport (a theory which I personally don't really buy), that is
irrelevant. USATF and their promotion and encouragement of the sport is

The same goes for Ritzenheim. As Grote has said, Ritz may be the best

This is simple to me. As a fan of the sport I want to see the best at all

I used Mitchell on purpose .. In individual events no way is Mitchell
