be attending school and that he controls when and where he can compete? Somebody

The basic issue is two-fold and doesn't really concern Webb:
1) When and why should an athlete leave his/her coach (and also training
environs, etc).
2) Why the assumption that the collegiate route is the only legitimate one
for athletic development?

YES!!! I would certainly hope and expect that if any athlete is medically
disqualified that the university would honor the scholarship. Any parent of a

Aside from the time and energy spent studying, going to class, etc, which
would be a problem for some runners and not a problem for others, there are
two main problems with very talented runners at any distance proceeding from
high school to college competition:
1.Coaching. There are plenty of

dime), rather than enter the open ranks right after HS.
