Hi all,
I just saw that the Brussels region launched a new open data portal
with many interesting datasets, including roads and road hierarchy, 3D
buildings, railways, tunnels, bus stops, bike and car sharing
stations. Even trees!
I think most of those are already known, but some seem new to me
FWIW I had the same problem in Brussels when I tried to map regional
routes as RCN (like the Canal route or the Promenade verte), as
opposed to local/communal itineraries that exist too.
Someone downgraded them to LCN because RCN was used for node networks
around the region and they probably
Hi everyone,
Great work on the pedestrian area!
I see a problem with the Delhaize Anspach object though, not totally
sure how to fix it (at least in iD, maybe it's easy with JOSM) :

Hi everyone,
Did someone took a look to the new Geoportal from the Brussels region?

It seems they link to more open data than the Urbis building shapes we have.
For example, if I search for transport in the catalogue, I
Hi all,
FYI, I received the following message from pnorman after doing an
Urbis import today. You may want to refrain doing this until the
situation is clarified.

I noticed you conducting an import with

Hi all,
A few weeks ago, I was showing Brussels map to someone (OSM with
Mapquest Open style), and they made the observation that it was absurd
that Chaussée de Waterloo (N5) stood out as a major road while Avenue
Brugmann/Rue de Stalle (N261) looked like a minor artery.
I understand this comes

To start with: one problem with Brussels is that they don't use road numbers

This is the method most people agree to and it's used internationally.
Splitting the roads into two ways for each side is a very bad idea.
Hi all,
As you may have noticed already, the FreeMeeting event (26 nov) has
been cancelled for this year. It probably was too ambitious to
organize at such short notice. Thanks to everyone who had volunteered,
and hopefully this event will happen next year.
Still, don't you think it would be
Hi all,
A few friends are setting up a new Free software/Open source event
targeted at the general public in Brussels (at the Betagroup coworking
space, near Etterbeek station). This would take place on 26 November.
You can read more about it at http://www.freemeeting.be/

Hi,
FYI, at the Hack Democracy Open Data conference, it was said that it
is not necessary to have access to the restricted PB database
(which contains the full cadastre) to get access to the building
shapes. The other URBIS databases seem to be good enough for that. In
other words, you probably
Hi,
The cooling tower at Drogenbos has nothing to do with UCB. It really
is part of an Electrabel power plant, just not a nuclear one. The
technology involved is combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) or Turbine

I don't know how you should tag that, but there are a few
