[Tex-music] tremulos

2017-02-23 Thread Don Simons
Hi, Bob--

Without remembering that you had recently developed single-note tremulo
macros for musixtex, I worked out some of my own to be used with PMX. Dieter
just reminded me that you had already created such macros, so naturally I've
been looking at using them instead. But I think I come across a problem with
them. When I did it before, I adjusted the vertical position by changing the
pitch of the \ib command, whereas you did that by putting everything in an
hbox, assuming the user would use the pitch of the applicable note as the
argument for \trm. I think that your method insulates the outside world from
any octave adjustments (with ' or `) inside the hbox.

If that's correct, it's going to make it tricky for me to use your macros
with PMX, because PMX keeps a running tab on what octave adjustments if any
are needed whenever a pitch is used as an argument for anything.

Am I understanding this correctly? If so, obviously I could go back square 1
and use the macros I had created, which as I said do not use any hbox but
adjust the vertical position by adjusting the pitch argument of the beam
commands, and that fits right in with PMX's way of tracking pitch levels. Or
maybe I could scratch my head and figure out a way to have PMX deal with
this feature of your macros. But I wonder if there's any way I can get
around the issue (remove the barrier imposed by the hbox) and still use your
macros.

Thanks Dieter. For everyone else, I think that message was
sent to the list by mistake.

Hi Bob and Hans Friedrich,

as I pointed out in my previous mail, I made excellent experience
with scanning notes, converting them to MusicXML, and then using
XML2PMX to go to *.pmx.

So why do you not send me a PDF and I do the rest.

I suggest you look at MuseScore which runs on Linux (as
well as Windows and Mac OS), and both imports and exports
musicxml.
