Re: [Tex-music] Lily Pond
Thank you for the answers and sorry for disturbing. Mat 2011/11/18 Erkki Karaharju erkki.karaha...@gmail.com I think that by saving the raw text .ly file in UTF-8 format should do the trick. At least it solved by problem with skandinavian letters(äöå) 18.11.2011 17.37 Mátyás Seress serima...@gmail.com kirjoitti: Hello, This mail is only for those, who use Lily Pond (maybe just a few). To the others: I apologize for disturbing with this topic. My problem is that I cannot write letters with accents, like éáúűöüóő. This is needed to write down properly the name of the composer, because he was not english-speaking, and his name contains letters with accents. I tried the LaTeX code, like: \'{a} , but this doesn't work... :-( (of course, I know that it's not LaTeX, I just gave it a try.) Could anybody help me with this? |Can anyone tell me, why I should use musixtex rather than Lily Pond? If you're satisfied with the engraving quality that lilypond produces, then use it. I prefer having more control and so I use musixtex. Bob T. --- TeX-music@tug.org mailing list If you want to unsubscribe or look at the archives, go to http://tug.org/mailman/listinfo/tex-music

On Wed, 12 Oct 2011, Mátyás Seress wrote: Can anyone tell me, why I should use musixtex rather than Lily Pond? Have you already seen scores made by both softwares ? Otherwise the Google search of WIMA may help you make the right choice. Type the words with my_tool source into the Google Search WIMA field of http://icking-music-archive.org but instead of my_tool write either MusiXTeX or Lilypond. Then you will have access to images of scores made with this tool and present in WIMA, and this should guide your choice. If you obtain too many results move back to the Google Search WIMA field and add the instrument(s) or ensemble you are planning to work for. This will hide results too far from your needs. Besides the image you will be able to also download the corresponding source of this score (often compressed into .zip format). Uncompressing this source will give you a text-format file, and viewing this file with a text editor will help you decide which language you prefer. Now I'm looking forward to see your scores.
