That's because IMSLP staff member Sallen112 has done his approval job
and besides post-edited the work page

And the first main header under that one tab
is misleading: it says “Complete” while all it contains is harpsichord
parts (in facsimile). I suppose it is a complete set of harpsichord
parts, but still…

In the context of a collection like this the IMSLP term 'Complete'
denotes, that all the suites and concertos of the collection are
included. The two next sections include convertos and suites only.

To be safe, I’ll try to wait a day or 2 before announcing the upload to
all of my flute- and harpsichord-playing friends. I do feel pretty good
about making these unusual pieces available.

As soon as the 'waiting for approval' IMSLP mark has been removed you
may safely announce your contribution to your friends.

Best wishes

Thanks again to Jean-Pierre, Christian, and especially Bob for your attention
to this. I did manage to associate my name with my Donsimons category page per
instructions from the message I got from IMSLP about the deletion. I then
resubmitted the 6 files (as Donsimons) and have my fingers very firmly crossed.

The reason for my having two different login names is mired in ancient history,
but evidently one of them was originally for the forums and the other for file
submissions.

Once done with the process I say, go to the work page and click on the
Editor link. This will create the editor page if not yet done.

Edit it, add your birth date if you wish and say |IMSLP Contributor= the

Edit the page. Once a score is uploaded there should be a line equivalent
to |Editor={{LinkEd|Jean-Pierre|Coulon}} in the batch of lines between {{
and }}. Otherwise insert it with your name.

Edit e.g.

Don: Un-doing the edit didn't work because the files have been deleted.
You'll have to re-submit. The IMSLP admins are really sensitive to

2022-01-20 Thread Bob Tennent
Christian: Perhaps you could suggest to the IMSLP admins that the page you
get when you click on "Upload a new version of this file" could be improved.
The warning "Please do NOT use this form to upload music scores!" should
read "Please do NOT use this form to upload *new* music scores!" and
there should be a heading for the section that *is* to be used for new file
versions, comparable to the "Upload Picture" heading. I could fix Don's
work page but I can't fix the new-version template.

Re: [Tex-music] Uploading to IMSLP?????

2022-01-19 Thread dsimons
Well, I did manage to use the "Add a file to this page" link, and uploaded
all six. But now all 6 are appearing in a separate list from the original 3.
So clearly they weren't handled as replacements but rather as new uploads.
Is there any way to send a message to someone at IMSLP alerting them to the
fact that the original 3 should be removed, or should I just wait and see
how they handle it and take it from there?

Meanwhile I did get 2 replies from Bob. He appears to be saying I should
have just proceeded to upload my files from the page entitled "Upload
picture", but I wasn't comfortable doing that, in light of the explicit
warning not to upload music scores from there.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see if the way I did it worked.

To install a revised score, click on the file number (e.g., #754329) and
then click on "Upload a new version of this file" . To re-name the new
version, click on Edit near the top of the Work Page.

You'll have to install them as you did the initial 3 files and then do some
editing of the resulting Work Page.

You should probably just stick with Scores. The Parts subsection is I
think for music that *only *exists in parts, such as music published in the
1600s.

Just submit "Scores". Maybe "your own edition" means your composition.

Ideally you should have a Category page like mine:
https://imslp.org/wiki/Category:Tennent%2C_R.D.
so you can link to it
using something like "Editor={{LinkEd|D.|Simons}}"

Hope this helps. If you install the files, I should be able to do the
Work Page editing for you.

Edit the page and change ===Scores=== into ===Scores and Parts===

But beware if there is already a Score section without parts. Then
add a ===Scores and Parts=== line and cut/paste your contributions under

Go into Add Scans, Scores. But afterwards your 3 additional files will be

Edit the page. The new header will look like

Cut the "|File Name 1=new1.pdf" and paste it under the |File Name 3 line

Copy the |Date Submitted line to |Date Submitter 1= old date,

Delete remaining lines on the new header because they are the same as the

You have to edit the page with Page \/ Edit

You will find the page expressed in a TeX-LaTeX-like language but this

(3) Change the name on the tab from "Scores (9)" to "Scores and Parts (12)",
since all the files on the page contain BOTH score and parts.

As usual, I keep getting stuck. For example, after logging in, at the top
of the page when I click on "Add File/New Edition" the only options are
"Score", "Parts","Other" or "Source Files". If I select "Other", hoping I
could submit as "Score and Parts", It asks me if I'm submitting my own
edition. When I say yes, it redirects me to a page saying "Create a category
page for yourself, if you don't have one yet.

Associate your category to your account." I've submitted dozens of editions
before and never had to do this, so I shouldn't have to do it now.

So could someone please explain to me as precisely as possible exactly how
to accomplish what I'm trying to do?

Re: [Tex-music] Uploading to IMSLP?????

2021-12-28 Thread dsimons
Thanks, Christian. I find the IMSLP upload process incredibly complicated and
not at all intuitive. I'm crossing my fingers that the site editors will create
extra pages and move things around like they want. If and when that happens, or
if they send me explicit instructions about what to do and how to do it, I'll
go back and mark them as part of the WIMA collection.

IMSLP may decide that the score+parts for the individual concerts should
be located in separate pages as they are not really organized as a
"collection".  But then there should be links to those concert pages in
the General Information section. An arrangement of Concert 1 (TWV 42:D6)
is already linked that way.

An example on distributing single pieces from a collection to separate
IMSLP work pages could be 'Newe Weinacht Liedlein mit 4 und 8 Stimmen'
by Leonard Schröter

https://imslp.org/wiki/Newe_Weinacht_Liedlein_mit_4_und_8_Stimmen_(Schr%C3%B6ter%2C_Leonhard)

If you select the menu item 'Page->Edit' you can see how to create
references from the collection work page to the work pages of the single
pieces.

I encourage marking PMX/MusiXTeX editions like this as members of
IMSLP's Werner Icking Collection. You do that by adding the IMSLP template

{{WIMAProject}}

to the 'Misc. Notes' field

IMSLP may decide that the score+parts for the individual concerts should be
located in separate pages as they are not really organized as a
"collection". But then there should be links to those concert pages in the
General Information section. An arrangement of Concert 1 (TWV 42:D6) is
already linked that way.

Re: [Tex-music] Uploading to IMSLP?????

2021-12-27 Thread dsimons
Thanks, Bob. I signed out and signed back in with a different user name
(evidently I have two) and then the magic “add files” link appeared. Now we’ll
see whether they accept the uploads. I was forced to choose between “score” and
“parts”, but I provided both, and wound up combining them into a single pdf for
each of the 3 “concerts”.

BTW, these editions should prove to be of great interest to any harpsichordist
and baroque flutist, as those two instruments alone form one of the 4 possible
combinations that Telemann himself certified to play these trio sonatas, and he
didn’t just slap together the bass line and the 2nd treble part but took the
trouble to produce a complete, separate harpsichord part.

I’ve evidently successfully logged in to IMSLP, but can’t get any further

Can anyone tell me how to proceed?
