Hi, this sounds to me, that Windows User Access Control (UAC) is activated. If so (default), then a normal user isn't allowed to install anything within c:\program files\. Even if you're using an admin-account, you have to right click the installer and click run as admin. Thus, the installer will get the required priveleges. If javaw.exe isn't in your Path, consider to re-install Java. Sometimes you have to click the option: install for all users, not just me within the Java installer. To my long year experience, the Java installer will add javaw.exe to PATH environment variables. So something seems to be broken on your machine. Hello Ewart, this is always possible, with a little manual work involved. Just copy the JRE folder from a PC, where you've installed Java and put it into Tn5250j folder. Than create/modify tn5250j.cmd (assuming Windows) and put in something like this: jre\bin\javaw.exe -jar tn5250j.jar That's it. Hi everyone, after a long time, there is a new release of TN5250j now. There are a couple of useful bugfixes. Thanks to everyone, who supported us. The internal cope page conversion was rewritten, which was an important step to support Hebrew characters (CP-424). As of this version 0.7.0, TN5250j requires a Java 6 runtime. Supporting older versions of Java needs more effort, thus the older code branch is considered as deprecated. Hi, I'm not aware of any problems regarding JRE7. I even run it on JRE8 without any problems. Are there any exceptions in the log file? You also may start it via command line: java -jar tn5250j.jar Thus you're able to see log messages. Any exceptions there? Hi Arpe, did you've checked your 'device name'? By default, AS400 will terminate a named device from connection, when there were to many login failures. This means, in your connection settings you're using '-dn JQ'. So AS400 will block/disconnected device 'JQ' until next IPL. Try to not use '-dn' parameter and you should connect again. If so, I consider this not a bug in TN5250j and this issue is closed ;-) Please, give feedback about. More specifically, it breaks after a login macro runs with a bad password. I write little login macros to enter user/pass and set my library list. Sometimes, these macros get out of date. The login screen rejects my login. So naturally, now I am *very* careful about the password in my login macros. After this occurs, I can never connect to the machine again using TN5250J. Even if I remove/disable the login macro. Very strange. Shall we call this AS/400 Artificial Intelligence? =) Sadly, RUMBA (grr) continues to work. There are two options for you: 1. download the TN5250j package with dependencies included - this should work 2. check out the SVN sources, compile yourself - this will work In the next release (I'm planning soon) this will be fixed. Hi, an installer will be out there, with the next release. You can do an update, by simply replacing the existing files (tn5250j.jar). I'm not catching the point regarding the folders.
