One thought is that your port number may be too high. I'm not
sure what port range jk2 supports, but you may want to try something
less than 32767.

I measured similar effects using The Grinder.
Under maximum load with long running requests it can be even that worse
that one Apache 2.x (default compile: prefork) with 2 Tomcats
5.x/mod_jk2 only distributes to the first Tomcat at all.
This is true as long as Apache runs out of MaxClients
The quality of the distribution depends on the worker type
of apache. (AFAIK only the 'worker' MPM will work)
Nevertheless AFAIK the load balancing in mod_jk is not
complete in this area, so I'm not shure if you will get
the desired distribution (but it should be closer).

For future info you're almost always better off with all the GNU tools for apache
products. The tools supplied with solaris dont always work as well as they should.

Which is an event not trivial to catch. I know of hacks, like tailing
catalina.out log and seeing when the last of the Mohicans has
loaded, but, again, it is not trivial to

Try following the instructions below, these are what I use when building the
connector.
cd jakarta-tomcat-connectors-jk2-2.0.4-src/jk/native2

Matt,
Thanks for your help so far. Now i am using Mod_jk2.0.2 + Apache2.0.43
+JBoss3.2.3. It is running perfect.
Now my problem is I will have to use 2 apache servers on 2 different
mechines.
Apach_box_1 has two tomcat/jboss (load balanceing)
Apach_box_2 has two tomcat/jboss (load balanceing)
Hi,
It's probably not a huge deal, and it's definitely on the radar screen.
Take a shot at building tomcat with MX4J 2.0 and let us help you if you
run into problems.

I'm pretty sure that there is no cache. Are you sure there isnt any directives in your
httpd.conf that could have the same behaviour?

Looks like you use a minus sign (-) in the uri and an underscore (_) in the url.

can someone explain me if the share memory descriptor is mandatory and
what's best practice about using it's attributes in a jk2 newbie user

I'm not sure whether its mandatory but when I've used jk2 on my linux system

I don't know why.
I'm running Tomcat 4.1.18 with apache 2.0.49 under linux.
And I can't make apache running with mod jk stuff.
Here is an extract of my apache httpd.conf file
LoadModule jk2_module modules/mod_jk2.so
Here's a more detailed description of the problem:
Apache 2.0.49 site 'www.domain.com' has a subdirectory called 'members'.
Users entering this directory are authenticated using .htaccess. The
index.html file in the 'members' directory has a hyperlink to a webapp
called 'minutes'

Is there a JK2 equivalent of JkMount? If there is what is the JK2

JkUriSet, I believe. There are docs in Tomcat on JK connectors.
Nix.

This problem, is hellish to diagnose properly because uploads works flawlessy for some

Same for me.
FileUpload never worked with JK2 connector on my configuration (W2K + IIS6
+ Tomcat 4.1.29 + JK2), except with files lower than ca. 54 KB. No slow
connection at all here (local
