I got the same hardware,too and the same problems.
After Update to edgy eft -X-Server crashes when using dual screen configuration
starting
either an X-session in xfce4 or OpenOffice.
Turning of the second display solves the problem.

I had the same problem. In fact it seems to be a Flash problem...
Curiously, the only way I found to fix it was to install libflash-
mozplugin pkg.
I tried this morning to remove it and install Flash 9 from tarball, but
the crash came back.

I agree the Debian specific patch should be more prominent, but it has
been a fairly clear upstream decision. Furthermore, NM is in universe,
