Upon switching from my Saitek Eclipse II keyboard to another one, the
issue has gone away. That apparently means that this has to be either a
driver problem then, or a Xorg (perhaps Xinput?) problem, or all of the
above? No clue yet.

It seems it's a problem with window focus. If the gnome panel has
focus, you can click and manipulate things in the panel, but not
anywhere else. If Firefox has focus, you can click and do stuff there,
including moving the window, but you can't click on or manipulate
I've managed to reproduce a way to temporarily get out of the problem:
Right-click inside the window which has mouse focus, so that the right-
click menu appears.
You can then click on other windows for a while.
After clicking again in the window which had focus though, your focus is
once again
This is also happening in Linux Mint 11, since it's based on Ubuntu

Seems to only happen after the power saver is engaged (screensaver was

thing. I've been using 11.04 throughout alpha and beta for a while now,

Thunderbird open, not sure if I have had it open during each of these
occurrences. Perhaps the new email notification window in Thunderbird
messed up the window focus.
The only other commonality seems to be that you need to wait

I have a PDF file that I saved (also from a government website). After
opening and editing the fields in this PDF file, the font format
disappears after clicking away from the field due to, apparently, Evince
not being able to recognise the desired font

I thought you just had to change the type of X window that gets created
for Gnome menus from one which steals focus to one which doesn't
basically? Menus (simply a different kind of X window) clearly have a
different kind of focus setting than most normal windows do, like
Nautilus windows.

I'm no longer finding any of these problems with Ubuntu 10.10. I was
able to unmount and remount SMB network shares in all the random ways I
tried, with making shortcuts to subfolders on the share and clicking on
those to mount the share and anything else I could think of doing, and

Karmic: Master audio channel muted upon switching to pulseaudio digital output
So when you add isos, it actually checks them and ungrays everything and
works, but if it sees an iso automatically, even though the iso is
highlighted, it isn't actually yet checked/validated/selected by the
program and thus leaves the options grayed out. That would be my guess

I just tested this inside VirtualBox with the daily build 2010-04-13 and

SMB share, unmount it, try to mount it again, try dragging it into the
left pane or quick places section and then unmounting and remounting by

chipset. I only have Digital Stereo Duplex (IEC958) and various
combinations of both output and input, while the analogue options

I cannot enable my digital output now at all in Karmic Koala. In Jaunty
I had to unmute/enable the digital output (IEC958) and that got me
sound, but with the new Pulse Audio controls, while it shows the digital
output device in the list, and I can switch to it, and
P.S. I've tried changing the profile under the Hardware tab of my
one audio device to everything available, and none of it gives me sound.
Basically anything with digital output should be working.
Also to further make things interesting, at first I had done an upgrade
from Jackalope, where I had

meaning muted instead of unmuted. The whole time IEC958 was unmuted,
but still not working. All it took to turn on ICE958 was to unmute the
