@MankyGitt
Few months ago when I was impacted with the bug I have tried several
major version of eclipse but I did not reproduce. I did not know which
exact version of eclipse, lotus is based on so maybe I did not try the
right one.
Anyway, the bug is now fixed, so I recommend to close it too.
Fixed released as of the last two comments. Thanks.

The fix has come via the repositories for ubuntu. I don't know for sure what
package change resolved the issue, but I can confirm that the same install of
Lotus Notes that didn't work with New Wave theme before, now works flawlessly.
I suspect the issue was a Java/Eclipse compatibility
I no more have the issue with 9.10 + Notes 8.5, unfortunely I have only
checked recently so I dont know if the fix come from a lotus notes or
ubuntu package update.

Same issue as described above regarding the New Wave theme conflict
with Lotus Notes 8.5.x. I tried several different versions of Lotus
Notes, all had the same issue. As soon as I changed to the Human
theme, the issue disappeared.

I can verify this problem occurs.
I've just spent half a day uninstalling and clean installing Notes 8.5 on
Jaunty.
I had switched to the New Wave theme after the upgrade to jaunty for fun.
Switching to another theme resolves the problem. In fact switching themes while
waiting for a hung Notes
I have found the same issue. Just switched theme to Dust and now I can launch
Lotus Notes 8.5 without a problem. Earlier it started up, but when it was to
display the mail or calendar it just hung as described above.
Changing the theme from New Wave to another one was the workaround.
