Daniel: I'm new to all this. Are you wanting me to file a new alsa-base
bug?
Also, I suspect my problem is not alsa related; I was able to get my
sound to work in Karmic by changing Sound-Preferences-Output-Connector
to Analog Headphones (from Analog output) - giving me sound in both
the speakers
Please use ubuntu-bug alsa-base.

Didn't help. I removed options snd-hda-intel models line at all from
alsa-base.conf file and reboot. I added model=6stack-dig and it doesn't help
too.
This is my last alsa info.
