prboom hangs a few second after starting a game
The two above fixes by Reinhard and Sergey work great, and I can
definitely verify this bug as it's still in Hardy even, using Prboom
2.4.7+dfsg-2. It would be really neat if some nice solution to the
Linux midi sound situation could be found. So far I've never seen
hardware midi working
Another option is to disable music with -nomusic key when starting
prboom

The same happens to me, except I don't get that error, it just freezes,
after several _moments_ inside the game. I am playing it with freedoom
especially.
It happened to me in dapper/edgy/feisty, please fix it.
