replacement for XEvIE?

This has nothing to do with KDE, it's to do with sudo and how it works.
kdesudo makes sure it sets up the correct environment for running GUI
applications. If it worked for you in 4.2.2 then that is just a
coincidence and not by design.

I have the same problem with upgrade to ubuntu 9.04 and also if I boot from CD.
IBM Thinkpad X30 with Intel 830 graphics controller.
The fonts are corrupted in all programms after about 5 minutes.

kdesu (which is replaced by kdesudo in Kubuntu) and kdesudo both use the
same KPasswordDialog widget from kdelibs for their password entry
widget. Presumably the bug would be in that KPasswordDialog widget, and
if it's fixed in kdesudo then it would be fixed in kdesu too. Thanks for
testing.

Unfortunately, I've received negative feedback from the HP Customer
Care. They do believe that the only preinstalled OS will manage the
device properly. I'm very dissatisfied with this answer. They think that
I'm so dull that I can't see the real problem source!
