I'm having the same problem, I have been undervolting my laptop since at
least feisty fawn which has always worked for me within an hour after
upgrading to a new version of Ubuntu. Unfortunately this is not possible
anymore because it is build in now.
I think, allthough I know it is easy to say
same problem in Jaunty here. Disabling remote desktop in preferences fixes the
issue (but no remote access)
Running vino-server from a terminal window seems to be alright (no excessive
CPU usage).
As soon as I enable remote desktop from the preferences menu, CPU spikes
again.
