I realize the target for the distro is USB sticks, but why is it a
problem to use an .iso file for this?
I've had to help several people figure out how to burn UNR to a CD
because they couldn't figure out how to put an .img file on a USB
We have and require udev, so MAKEDEV shouldn't be required at all? Can

As per http://www.pulseaudio.org/wiki/BrokenSoundDrivers it seems that
the snd-intel-hda driver is broken. There is a patch for Fedora here

Just experienced this using Kubuntu Jaunty/KDE 4.2.2 (clean install, not
an upgrade) using the Software Updater. This machine is x86 and
otherwise a fairly good spec laptop. Bought it ~2 years ago and it was
fairly high-end back then.

It would be good to find out if this problem occurs in the latest kernel
in -proposed. Shortly there should be a -13 kernel in -proposed and it
would be good to wait for and test that one. Please see

It is a VPS, it should be a custom kernel, I think. So you think it is
the kernel issue? What should I look into then, so that I can at least

unfortunately, the license does not allow free redistribution AFAIUI.
for medibuntu, they are of course free to ignore any laws not valid in
france, but ubuntu targets more countries than that.
